Transportation Loads FEA Analysis for MEGC
Project Objective: Assess MEGC subjected to Transport load requirements as per CFR.
Project Challenges: Modeling MEGC frame and pre-processing for Finite Element Analysis was a huge task as the frame assembly consist of hundreds of individual parts. We followed a conventional pre-processing approach by importing and meshing each individual component. Lot of effort and time was spent on observing and identifying contact regions between the parts and assemblies in the Geometry module. This is a better approach than to use automatic connections between the surfaces as we can eliminate the unnecessary and unreal contact regions. We studied the DOT requirement as per the relevant CFR reference to determine number of cases and their relevant loads in terms of gravitational acceleration.
Output : A summarized report including images for CFD results(Pressure, Velocity, Streamlines)
Report also included remarks and recommendation for design change (radii) to reduce pressure loss across the points.
Customer Speaks: FEA Analysis of the MEGC helped us to learn regarding the design performance subjected to current loads. We also tried an additional case with increased loading. Simulation helped us to find the Design Improvement areas to strengthen our products
